While at my local GameStop today, I asked if Duodecium was available for preorder. As it turns out, it is available and has a placeholder release date of early April. Obviously, this is not to be taken as anything official, but it is very encouraging for a possible simultaneous release.
And now for fun with models!
Before anyone asks, this was done with a combination of Noesis, Mesh2RDM, and MilkShape.
Anyway, r_smith0 and I have been dabbling with the models a bit and I decided to put this to good use and make something that could be useful for the artists and writers we have in the fandom. Thus, I made some height charts and eye color charts -
Everyone with estimated heights
(Warning: The full-size image is huge – 3+ MB and 6589 pixels across!)
The heights listed are estimates, but they're pretty good ones. Most characters are within a few inches of their official heights, but there are a few big changes. Biggest departure is probably Cecil who went from 5' 10” in FFIV to around 6' 4” in Dissidia, making him the tallest warrior of Cosmos. More than likely, this was done to make the height gap between himself and Golbez less dramatic – even though Golbez still stands an exceptionally imposing 8' 2” (For reference, Sultan Kösen, the world's tallest man is 8' 1”.) Also of note is that the Emperor's height is with his heels included – without his four inch stilettos, he stands right around 6 feet.
Also, as you have probably figured out, weapons are attatched to the models and turned on or off when appropiate in game. For my purposes, removing them would have been too time-consuming so I just left most of them in.
A Dissidia Rainbow! (Obviously just done for fun)
Nothing really new here, I just did this for my own entertainment... and because the textures are ripped anyway in the conversion from GMO to SDM.
Since I know people have been curious about sizes with Duodecium around the corner, I figured I would share a little information about that. Battle models for the game average 1750KB, with the smallest being Ultimecia's Manikin at 1453KB and the largest being Cloud of Darkness at 2014KB. Every model contains all of their battle animations for their normal form and their EX-Mode form. Alternate costumes are counted as separate models. Maps are reasonably sized around 500KB each. Characters are several “story” models that contain animations used in the cut scenes, varying in size from 200KB to 1000KB depending upon the complexity of model and animations. (For example, Bartz's models tend to be very large due to his variety of animations and the fact that so many of his weapons are included in his model) Other models (game pieces, game boards, items, and crystals) are all fairly small, and, yes, two test models taken from Crisis Core do remain on the UMD.
